Modern cleaners are effective, but they unnecessarily put our families and the environment at risk. An EPA Report to Congress stated that indoor air pollution is one of the nation’s most important environmental health problems. Most homes have airborne concentrations of hazardous chemicals that are two to seventy times higher than outdoors. The concentrations are so high due to toxic vapors released by cleaning products, personal care products and household goods. America’s homes are so energy efficient that “ out gassing” of chemicals has nowhere to go, so it builds up inside the home.

Household toxins don’t just affect us, they create toxic waste in the form of air and water pollution and solid toxic waste. Not only does this pollution come back to haunt our own health, but it also harms wildlife. The most toxic substances to aquatic organisms are household bleach, all-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent and dish detergent.
